PersonalHour Lubricant for Pilates springs is specially formulated to extend the lifespan of your PersonalHour springs while ensuring smooth, seamless movement during your reformer workouts.
Using lubricant for Pilates springs is important for several reasons:
-
Smooth Performance: Over time, springs can develop friction, which may cause them to become squeaky or stiff. Lubricating the springs ensures smoother movement, making exercises more fluid and efficient.
-
Noise Reduction: Springs can produce noise due to friction as they move. Applying lubricant helps to minimize or eliminate these squeaking or creaking sounds, making for a quieter workout experience.
-
Extended Spring Life: Regular lubrication helps prevent wear and tear on the metal, reducing the risk of rust, corrosion, or other damage. This extends the lifespan of the springs and maintains the machine's overall quality.
-
Improved Safety: Properly maintained and lubricated springs function more consistently, reducing the risk of breakage or sudden jerky movements that could potentially lead to injury.
-
Reduced Wear on Other Components: Well-lubricated springs place less stress on the surrounding components of the reformer, such as hooks, clips, or frames, which can help protect other parts of the machine from premature wear.
The main ingredients of Spring Oil (Grease) are:
-
Base Oil (major component)
-
Mineral Oil – refined from crude oil, made of hydrocarbons.
-
Synthetic Oil – chemically engineered oils (e.g., PAO, esters) with better stability and temperature performance.
-
Silicone Oil – excellent for extreme high/low temperatures.
-
-
Thickener (turns the oil into semi-solid grease)
-
Soap-based (like lithium soap).
-
Non-soap compounds (organic thickeners).
-
-
Additives (enhance performance)
-
Rust Inhibitors – protect metal from corrosion.
-
Extreme Pressure (EP) Additives – improve lubrication under heavy loads.
-
Antioxidants / Anti-corrosion agents – prevent oxidation and wear.
-
Solid Lubricants (like PTFE) – reduce friction.
-
It is advisable to use this silicone-based lubricant specially formulated for your pilates springs at least once a week, if used daily.
Size: 2 OZ
How to Use
- Apply a small amount of lubricant to a cloth or sponge. You don't need to drench the springs, as a little goes a long way.
- Gently wipe the lubricated cloth or sponge over the springs. Ensure you cover the entire surface evenly. You can also manually compress and release the springs to work the lubricant into the coils.
